Officiant(e) des rituels du Levant et principalement du rituel bua’, doué(e) pour le chant, le burake a pour attribut un petit tambour à main nommé garatung, tambour à deux peaux de python, à boules fouettantes. Il/elle s’en sert pour tous les rituels qu’il/elle dirige, en rythmant son débit de paroles au son cinglant du tambour.

Priest or priestess of the rituals of the East, performing at the bua’ kasalle, gifted for singing, the to burake has a small hand drum called garatung, a pellet drum with two python skins, with ball strikers. He/she uses it for all the rituals he/she directs to give a rhythm to her words through the drum’s biting sound. (anglais)

Pemangku adat (lelaki atau perempuan) untuk ritus aluk rampe matallo (Ufuk Timur), pemangku adat untuk pesta bua’, berbakat menyanyi, seorang to burake memiliki atribut berupa sebuah gendang kecil pada tangannya, yang disebut garatung. Gendang ini berlapiskan kulit ular sawah yang dilengkapi dengan alat penabuh. Ia (lelaki/perempuan) menggunakan peralatan tersebut untuk seluruh kegiatan ritual yang dipimpinnya, dengan menyesuaikan irama kata-katanya dengan bunyi gendang yang menyayat. (indonésien)
