The widower or widow is dressed in white. During the ritual he or she must observe a series of strict obligations: keep his head covered, eat no cooked food, never come down from the house, never face East. He is advised by the mortician (to mebalun, ‘death wrapper’) who constantly reminds him of the rules to follow.

(French)
