The soloist may sing around the drone in seconds or sometimes minor thirds. The unity of the song is especially linked to the size of the harmonic interval chosen, which determines how brilliant the chorus is. The harmonic interval of a second is different depending on the group: sonorous choruses, ‘clear’ (sero) and ‘cutting’, use a very large second (between the tempered second and the minor third) whereas the choruses that ‘sound less’ use a smaller second.

Le soliste peut chanter autour du bourdon, à la seconde ou quelquefois à la tierce mineure.
