A few exogenous tunes, about 10% of the repertoire, probably borrowed from the Bugis repertoire, have been inserted in the marakka. Unlike the static and melismatic type, the borrowed tunes are more rhythmic and isochronous, are well-built melodically, and make use of an anhemitonic scale. No melismas or rhythmic indecision here. The form of the marakka – solo singing and flute – is also found in Makassar language in Kajang country.

(Indonesian)
