Après les sacrifices, le corps est déplacé de la chambre à la pièce du milieu et de la position levant-couchant à la position amont-aval, la tête en aval, en direction du monde des morts. Le rite se nomme « retourner le défunt » ma’pabalik to mate. À la tête du défunt est placée une décoration (sisarean) sur laquelle repose une représentation du mort, figurée par un sarong, une chemise, un sac à bétel, des cornes de cerf et un casque muni d’une multitude de pièces d’argent (tel que celui porté par les danseurs de manganda’ à la fête bua’kasalle).

After the sacrifices, the body is moved from the bedroom to the central room and from east-west position to upstream-downstream, with the head downstream, in the direction of the world of the dead. The rite is called ‘turning around the deceased’ (ma'pabalik to mate). A decoration (sisarean) is placed at the deceased’s head with a depiction of him lying on top (with a sarong, a shirt, a betel sack, antlers and a helmet with numerous coins as worn by the manganda' dancers at the celebration bua'). Sesudah penyembelihan, jenazah dipindahkan dari kamar bagian selatan ke ruang tengah, dan dari posisi matahari terbit-matahari terbenam ke posisi hulu – hilir, kepala menghadap ke hilir, ke negeri maut. Ritus ini disebut “mengganti arah orang mati”, ma’pabalik to mate. Di bagian kepala mendiang, ditempatkan sebuah sandaran (sissarean) tempat ditemukannya patung mendiang (lengkap dengan sarong, tudung kepala, sehelai baju, sebuah kantung sirih, tanduk rusa, dan sebuah topi yang berlapiskan berbagai jenis uang logam yang digunakan oleh para penari mangnganda’ di upacara pesta ma’bua’).
