The plucked lute accompanies the male solo song called anduru'. The song accompanied by the lute recounts historic episodes, praises the master of the house (ditendeng), and the audience, and then acts as intermediary between man and woman.

Le luth accompagne le chant solo masculin, appelé anduru’. Le chant a pour fonction de narrer les épisodes historiques, de louer le maître de maison (ditendeng), puis le public. Il a, par ailleurs, une fonction d’entremetteur entre homme et femme. (French)

Lut mengiringi lagu solo pria, yang dinamakan anduru’. Lagu yang diiringi dengan lut berfungsi untuk mengisahkan peristiwa-peristiwa sejarah, untuk memuji tuan rumah (ditendeng), lalu penonton, kemudian lagu itu berfungsi sebagai mak comblang antara pria dan wanita. (Indonesian)
