The randing funeral dance has as its counterpart the tenten, in the East. The equivalence between these dances can be seen not only in the costumes – the men wear a straw hat with false stylized horns and hold a buckler – but also in the gestures: they swing their right hands while holding their shields with the left; each dancer makes small jumps while advancing in file. In both cases, these warlike dancers preceded the participants’ entrance onto the ceremonial field.

La danse randing des funérailles a pour paire le tenten du grand rituel bua’ kasalle. L’homologie entre ces danses est manifeste non seulement par les costumes (les hommes portent un chapeau de paille avec de fausses cornes stylisées et tiennent un bouclier) mais également par les gestes : la main droite est balancée, tandis que la main gauche tient le bouclier ; par ailleurs, chaque danseur avance dans le cortège en sautillant. Dans les deux cas, ces danseurs, l’allure guerrière, précèdent l’entrée des participants sur le champ cérémoniel. (French)

Tarian randing dalam ritus pemakaman berpadanan dengan tenten dalam ritus bua’ yang tertinggi. Keserupaan antara kedua tarian ini tampak jelas bukan hanya dalam bentuk kostum (para lelaki menggunakan tudung dengan tanduk buatan, serta dilengkapi dengan perisai), melainkan juga dalam gerak-gerik mereka: tangan sebelah kanan diayun-ayunkan, sedangkan tangan kiri memegang perisai. Selain itu, setiap penari melompat-lompat kecil sambil melangkah maju. Dalam kedua ritus ini, para penari ini tampak membawakan tarian perang, mendahului masuknya para peserta dalam arena upacara.
