The maro ritual can be performed by several families. Each family has its team of music-making celebrants: drums, officiants, singers. On the last day, all these teams come together on the ceremonial field. Thus, at Torea, in November 1993, I saw five masts, five drums, five groups of officiants and five groups of girls, as well as several groups of informal singers all brought together in a single place. Here, musics of different natures are juxtaposed: trance songs, officiants’ chanting, and drums for dances.

(Indonesian)
