La musique ne sert pas ici à déchaîner la personne en transe mais à la guérir, à l’apaiser. Le débit est lent et le caractère du chant lancinant. Le premier vers est lancé par un meneur. Les phrases sont simples, lentes, l’ambitus restreint – il n’excède pas un ou deux tons –, le chant est homophone, les rythmes sont élémentaires. Le plus souvent, l’ambitus ne dépasse pas un demi-ton. La plupart des motifs sont accentués tous les trois temps, ce qui rappelle l’importance de la triade et du chiffre trois dans le rituel maro.

Here the music's aim is not to release the person in trance but to heal and soothe him. The tempo is slow and the character insistent. The first line is uttered by the leader. The phrases are simple and slow, the ambitus restricted – no more than one or two tones – the song is homophonic and the rhythms elementary. Most often the ambitus is no greater than a semitone. Most of the motifs are stressed every third beat, recalling the importance of the triad and the figure three in the ritual maro. (anglais)
