To get in touch with divinities, the officiants speak, declaim, chant and sing. Their words find expression in musical forms such as can be found in the four examples given here: the purification song massarapa, the consecration of the tumbang (mangaluk to tumbang), the singgi’ declamation and the tambuli speech.
