Alors que musiciens et officiants sont représentés par des oiseaux, les nobles peuvent, quant à eux, être évoqués non par de simples oiseaux mais par des volatiles de combat (le coq), par des rapaces ou par le buffle. Le coq, animal mythique, dont l’ancêtre fut créé au ciel, est avec le buffle, un des animaux principaux, tous deux sont sculptés ou gravés sur les maisons. Les nobles sont également évoqués par l’or, par les tissus cérémoniels, par les maisons ainsi que par les grands arbres : banian (barana’, lamba’), santal (sendana) et Celeba michelica (uru), métaphores de solidité et de longévité.

Whereas musicians and officiants are represented by birds, the nobles may be evoked not by ordinary birds but by birds of combat (the cock) or of prey, or by the buffalo. The cock – a mythical animal whose ancestor was created in heaven – is, with the buffalo, one of the main animals carved on the houses. The nobles are also evoked through gold, ceremonial fabrics, and houses, as well as great trees – the banyan (barana’, lamba’), sandalwood (sendana) and Michelia celebica (uru), metaphors for solidity and longevity. Jika para penyanyi dan pemangku adat direpresentasikan oleh burung-burung, kaum bangsawan tidak lagi sekedar digambarkan dalam bentuk burung, melainkan berupa burung peliharaan untuk sabungan (ayam jantan), burung buas, atau kerbau. Ayam jantan, binatang mistis yang nenek moyangnya diciptakan di atas langit, yang bersama dengan kerbau, tergolong di antara binatang yang dianggap paling penting. Kedua jenis binatang ini dijadikan motif ukiran pada rumah adat. Kaum bangsawan juga digambarkan dalam simbol emas, kain upacara, dan rumah, ataupun dalam bentuk pohon tinggi besar seperti beringin (barana’), pohon (lamba’), cendana (sendana) dan Celeba michelica (uru), yang merupakan metafora untuk kekuatan dan umur panjang.
