Public

This purification song was performed at the bua’ kasalle ritual held at Bamba (Deri, Sesean region). Directed by Ne’ Lumbaa, it was performed by four officiants in the ceremonial house, in the central room and in front of the tumba' effigy, to which various pieces of meat were offered. Massarapa comes from sarapa, meaning “to wash, purify by eliminating stains”. A prophylactic prayer, it aims at banishing all worldly diseases that might afflict houses, animals, and men. (anglais)
