Quelques jours après, au cours des funérailles, l’effigie, substitut du défunt, est retournée du couchant au levant (« retournement de l’effigie » pembalikan tau-tau), puis des offrandes animales et musicales lui sont faites. Ce changement de direction dévoile la destination future de l’âme du défunt.

Beberapa hari sesudahnya, pada saat upacara pemakaman, patung yang berfungsi sebagai pengganti mendiang, ditempatkan di luar rumah, dibalikkan dari barat ke timur (“perubahan arah letak patung”, pembalikan tau-tau). Setelah itu dilaksanakan persembahan binatang dan musik untuk mendiang. Perubahan arah ini mengungkapkan tujuan masa depan roh mendiang. (indonésien)
