The myth recalls that the maro ritual was held in heaven to cure the child of the God Puang Matua (Nooy-Palm 1986: 127). What is notable is, on the one hand, the importance of the woman in the cure – a female divinity brings the remedy – and on the other the role of blood evoked through the red cordyline plant, the mouth spraying, and lastly the erection of the mast (bate).

Le mythe rappelle que le rituel maro eut lieu au ciel pour guérir l’enfant du dieu Puang Matua (Nooy-Palm 1986 : 127). On note, d’une part, l’importance de la femme dans la guérison – c’est une divinité féminine qui apporte le remède –, d’autre part, le rôle du sang évoqué par la plante rouge cordyline, la place de la pulvérisation buccale et enfin l’érection du grand mât (bate, bandera). Mitos mengingatkan bahwa ritus maro telah berlangsung di atas langit untuk penyembuhan anak Puang Matua (Nooy-Palm, 1986: 127). Dalam hal ini dapat dicatat, pertama, pentingnya peranan wanita dalam penyembuhan – adalah seorang dewata perempuan yang mendatangkan penyembuhan -, kedua, pentingnya peranan darah, yang diungkapkan dalam bentuk daun lenjuang merah, peranan penyembuhan oleh apa yang dikunyah dalam mulut, dan akhirnya oleh pendirian bendera raksasa (bate, bandera).
