Les strophes sont choisies soit dans le stock de vers de l’hagiographie, soit en fonction des circonstances rituelles, soit en fonction du statut du défunt. Nombreuses sont les strophes de nature performative qui délimitent le temps de l’énonciation, évoquent la ronde en train de se faire, indiquent une action à venir (invitent à danser ou à s’arrêter). D’autres évoquent les thèmes de la séparation, la déploration, la lamentation, l’avancée de la nuit.

The stanzas are chosen from the stock of hagiographic verses, depending on the ritual circumstances or the status of the deceased. Many stanzas are of a performative nature such that they delimit the time of utterance, evoke the song being performed, indicate an action to be carried out (starting or stopping the dance). Others evoke the themes of separation, deploration, lamentation, and the coming of the night. (anglais)

Bait-bait dipilih, baik dalam cadangan sajak wadah riwayat hidup, maupun berdasarkan situasi dan kondisi ritual, ataupun berdasarkan status sosial mendiang. Ditemukan banyak bait yang bersifat performatif yang membatasi waktu enonsiasi, mengungkapkan badong yang sedang berlangsung, menentukan sebuah tindakan yang akan dilakukan (mengundang untuk menari atau berhenti).
