Every singer puts on a traditional costume, a sign of nobility, most often orange or yellow, the color of the rituals of the East. The costume includes corsair's trousers (bayu po'ko'), an old dagger (la'bo' to dolo), an ancestral cloth (maa'), but above all a special headdress (tali pangulang, on the right side) – a band wound round the forehead with multicolored bird feathers (parrot and chicken feathers, bulu kaloe, buleak dassi) sold by the people of Makki in the market of Pangngala’ or Baruppu', tied on with wild pig hair (*babi hutan). The headband is also decorated with a slanting bamboo stem. In addition they wear a golden yellow eggplant (tarrung) necklace.

(Indonesian)
