Two days are devoted to planting a megalith (simbuang batu). First, the stone is pulled by hand with the help of bamboos over some hundred meters as far as the ceremonial field. The following day, it is raised beside the others already in place – a sign that funerals of the highest rank have already taken place here. The day after, a buffalo is tethered and then sacrificed. Only the men can eat the buffalo meat. This stone has a posthumous function: it helps recall the deceased’s grandeur.

Deux jours sont consacrés à la plantation d’un mégalithe (simbuang batu). D’abord, la pierre est tirée jusqu’au champ cérémoniel, à la main, à l’aide de bambous, sur une centaine de mètres. Le lendemain, elle est dressée à côté d’autres déjà en place, signe que des funérailles du plus haut degré eurent lieu autrefois à cet endroit. Le surlendemain, un buffle y est attaché puis sacrifié. Seuls les hommes peuvent manger la viande de ce buffle. La fonction de cette pierre est posthume : elle sert à rappeler la grandeur d’un défunt. (French)

Dua hari dikhususkan untuk pendirian sebuah megalit. Terlebih dahulu, bongkahan batu yang diikatkan pada sebatang bambu, diseret beramai-ramai ke arena upacara yang jaraknya sekitar 100 meter. Keesokan harinya, Batu tersebut didirikan di samping megalit yang sudah ada, tanda bahwa upacara pemakaman yang tertinggi telah diadakan pada lokasi tersebut. Dua hari kemudian, seekor kerbau, yang baru ditambatkan pada megalit baru itu, kemudian disembelih. Hanya kaum lelaki yang diperkenankan untuk memakan daging kerbau korban tersebut.
