Nowadays, the ma’pakorong is performed exclusively in the southwest of the region: in the Saluputti and Bonggakaradeng areas, towards Bua’ Ke'pe'. According to Ne’ Lumbaa, the rite also was also performed in the north (Rindingallo and Sesean). I witnessed only the first stage of the ritual – the musical night followed by rice and egg offerings in the very early morning – at Bekak, 27 October 1993. An in-depth anthropological paper has been used as a published source: Waterson, 1995.

Le ma’pakorong est aujourd’hui pratiqué exclusivement au Sud-Ouest de la région : régions de Saluputti et de Bonggakaradeng, vers Bua’ Ke’pe’. Autrefois, selon Ne’ Lumbaa, le rite était aussi pratiqué dans le Nord du pays toraja (Rindingallo, Sesean). Je n’ai assisté qu’à la première étape du rituel, à la nuit musicale suivie des offrandes de riz et d’œufs au petit matin, à Bekak le 27 octobre 1993. Un article ethnographique de l’ethnologue Roxana Waterson en 1995 m’a servi de source écrite pour comprendre ce rituel. (French)

Ma’pakorong saat ini hanya dilaksanakan di bagian barat daya Tana Toraja: daerah Saluputti dan Bonggakaradeng, ke arah Bua’ Ke’pe’. Dahulu, menurut Ne’ Lumbaa, ritus ini juga dilaksanakan di bagian utara (Rindingallo, Sesean). Saya hanya sempat menyaksikan bagian awal ritus ini, pada malam musikal, yang disusul dengan sesajen nasi dan telur ketika hari masih pagi sekali, di Bekak, tgl. 27 Oktober 1993.
