Pour transformer l’esprit du défunt en ancêtre, la collectivité le porte à un rang supérieur en louant son exemplarité afin que les dieux l’accueillent en leur sein. Le « récit du badong » (ossoran badong) est un long poème hagiographique dont certaines parties seulement sont chantées. C’est le récit d’une vie d’un défunt qui par l’énonciation d’une déploration élogieuse sera érigé au rang d’ancêtre, élévation analogue à la béatification du monde chrétien. Cf. In order to transform the deceased’s spirit into an ancestor the collectivity elevates him to a superior rank by praising his exemplary nature so that the gods welcome him among them. The ossoran badong (‘narrative of the badong’) is a long hagiographic poem of which only certain parts are sung. It is the history of the life of a deceased who, through the utterance of a eulogistic lamentation, will be raised to the rank of ancestor, an elevation analogous to beatification in the Christian world. Untuk peralihan roh mendiang menjadi leluhur, kolektivitas menempatkannya pada tingkatan yang lebih tinggi. Yakni melalui pengagungan keteladanannya dengan harapan bahwa para dewa akan menerimanya di tengah mereka. “Kisah badong” (ossoran badong) merupakan syair hagiografis yang panjang, yang hanya bagian tertentu saja yang dinyanyikan. “Kisah badong” merupakan kisah kehidupan seorang mendiang, yang berkat pengutaraan suatu madah pujaan yang pilu, ia akan dinobatkan sebagai leluhur oleh para dewa; perubahan yang agak menyerupai penyucian dalam dunia Kristiani.
