The sarong simbong idiophones may be raised in the air, knocked together, or placed on the ground in front of each singer. The choreography, called ‘mangunu’, consists of handing the sarong simbong to its neighbor, and is considered to describe the manufacture of cotton. The verse ‘we find the sparkling tabang leaf’ (ullambi'kan tabang borrong) describes a gesture with the hand made from front to back using the wooden disk. The verse tabunde-bunde pakossan, danced by striking the sarong simbong against the ground, evokes catching fish, a possible metaphor for gold-panning.

Les idiophones sarong simbong peuvent être levés en l’air, frappés les uns contre les autres, posés à terre devant chaque chanteur. La chorégraphie appelée mangunu’ consiste à échanger les sarong simbong, et décrirait la fabrication du coton.
