At the beginning of the celebration the song is performed facing the house. It is half recited and half sung by the officiant, and punctuated by the chorus, which interrupts the soloist's declamation with a sustained ornate drone approximately every ten verses. At certain times the officiant leaves the singers free to sing a few stanzas of their choosing before continuing to declaim the poem samparan.

(Indonesian)
