Un rituel du Levant, appelé « retournement du mât » (maro bate ma’pabalik) est réalisé afin de permettre à l’« ombre » d’un défunt de passer du couchant au levant, et du bas vers le haut, vers le lieu des divinités. Lors de ce rituel, un à plusieurs grands mâts tridents sont érigés et sont dits « retournés » (dipabalik) car ils sont la réplique du mât bandera érigé lors des grands rituels du Couchant.

A ritual of the East, maro bate ma'pabalik ( ‘turning the mast around’) is performed so that the soul of the deceased may pass from the West to the East, and from low to high, towards the place of the divinities. During this ritual, one or more great trident masts are erected. They are said to be ‘turned around’, as they are equivalent to the mast erected during the celebrations of the West. (anglais)

Sebuah ritus rampe matallo (Ufuk Timur), yang disebut dengan “perubahan posisi tiang panji-panji maro” (maro bate ma’pabalik), dilaksanakan agar roh dari seorang mendiang dapat beralih dari Ufuk Barat ke Ufuk Timur, dan dari bawah ke atas, menuju dunia dewata. Pada saat ritus ini, satu atau lebih tiang panji-panji besar bermata tiga didirikan. Disebut “dirubah” karena mereka merupakan replika dari tiang pada saat pesta Ufuk Barat. (indonésien)
