La veille des sacrifices, les chanteurs arrivent en cortèges. Autrefois, l’officiant se postait au milieu de la cour, face à la maison, entouré par les chanteurs et il entamait une longue déclamation, relayé de temps à autre par le chœur. D’abord, il se présentait lui-même en se glorifiant (sode-sode to minaa), il déclinait sa fonction qui consistait à nommer, citer, louer le village, la fête, le propriétaire. Puis soutenu par le chœur, il enchaînait sur le long panégyrique samparan simbong, destiné à faire l’éloge de la vie du commanditaire.

The singers arrived in male and female processions on the eve of the sacrifices. The officiant took up a position in the middle of the courtyard facing the house, surrounded by his singers, and started a declamation. First of all he introduced himself through self-glorification (sode-sode to minaa), and explained his function: to name, summon, and praise in song the village, the celebration, and the owner of the house. Pemangku adat berdiri di tengah halaman, menghadap ke rumah, sambil dikelilingi oleh para penyanyinya. Ia pun berdeklamasi dalam bentuk menyanyi. Terlebih dahulu, ia memperkenalkan diri dengan mengagung-agungkan dirinya (sode-sode to minaa), lalu menjelaskan fungsi sosialnya: seperti menyebutkan, mengutip, memuja kampung dalam bentuk nyanyian, mengagungkan pesta dan pemilik rumah.
