Despite being linked by strong equivalences, the differences in these rituals are numerous: in the nature of the sacrifices (buffaloes on one side, pigs on the other), in the nature of the exchanges, even in the meaning of the rituals. The funeral is a starting point, the bua’ kasalle an arrival.

Malgré les fortes homologies qui relient ces rituels, les différences sont nombreuses : dans la nature des sacrifices (buffles d’un côté, porcs de l’autre), dans la nature des échanges, dans le sens même des rituels. Alors que les funérailles seraient un départ, le rituel bua’ kasalle serait une arrivée. (French)

Meskipun keserupaan antara ritus tersebut tampak sangat kuat, ditemukan pula banyak perbedaan: dalam bentuk binatang korban (kerbau di satu pihak, dan babi di pihak lain), dalam bentuk tukar-menukar, bahkan dalam makna ritus itu sendiri.
